watching your son eat chocolate for the very first time. priceless.

thanks to a dark chocolate cupcake, i have no doubt that carter's birthday was the best day of his short, little life. my family has been giving me a hard time for a while now because i had a rule that carter couldn't have chocolate or sugar until his first birthday. his little body is just so pure! i figured he would have his whole life to fill it with junk food. anyway, it's been a couple weeks where i have noticed that carter has been very interested in my treats. he reaches for them constantly! so when i put this cupcake in front of him, i think he knew what was comin'...

we started out in true carter fashion though - which means - we started out being very cautious. he had never seen a cupcake before so there were first a few pokes and prods trying to figure out what this ball of brown stuff was. you have to know that carter will not put something in his mouth he has never seen and certainly never eats food from strangers!

but once he got a little taste...

it was game. over.

oh, and this is him fake sharing with his dad. sooo sweet of you carter! ;)

i still can't believe he kept his hat on the whole time...^^ i love him.

we got so carried away watching him attack his cupcake we didn't realize that almost all of it was gone. these are serious cupcakes too. i (who can eat way to much dessert) eat a fourth of these cupcakes and i have to stop. daron - who is, what, like 10 times carter's size is sick after one. we prayed -literally- that he would not puke. 

so far, so good.

the day overall was casual. daron doesn't have school on tuesdays though so we got a little extra play time with dad which was the cherry on top.

the sunset behind daron and carter while they played was so stunning. ^^ made this moment kinda magical.

oh, and this next picture is of carter's face as my mom and i sung *and danced!* a (wildy out of tune-harmonized-version) of happy birthday to him.

he so knew it was his birthday...
