THREE

Carter turned 3 a few weeks ago on November 12th. At 3-years-old, Carter's favorite toys are trains. Of course, he loves dump trucks, airplanes, and cars; but nothing gets him screaming more in the car than trains. He is incredibly animated and has a different expression depending on what he is saying. He also totally understands how to get his way and is really honing in on his skills to work the system. There really isn't anything Carter doesn't like. He loves everything. He is always down for whatever we are doing. Not only down, but screaming and smiling with excitement.

Typical conversations are:

Me - "Carter, we gotta go to the neighbors to drop something off."

Carter - gasp! "The neighbors! Yay! Yay! Yay! I love the neighbors!"

                                                  ************
Me - "Hey Carter, jump in your seat. We're going to get the car washed."

Carter - gasp! "The car wash! I love the car wash!"

It literally doesn't matter what we are doing, or where we are going, he is thrilled and excited to do it. I always talk about his enthusiasm for life but it's because it's amazing to me.

He also loves to make people laugh. If you laugh at one of his jokes or something he says, it puts him on cloud 9. His favorite foods are things like eggs, pasta, smoothies, nuts (the other day he downed a bag of roasted pepitas) rice & beans, and chocolate chips. He loves frozen yogurt (I may have had something to do with that). He is excellent at saying sorry. He is getting good at FaceTiming his cousin Savy and having conversations over the phone. He talks with Daron every night on his drive home from work about our day. He's so, very affectionate. He absolutely cannot go to bed without "huge & kisses" from the both of us. And he adores his sister. One day, I am going to catch on camera his reaction when he hears her first cry from waking up from her nap. After his little freak out "that Naomi is finally awake!" he sprints to her room, throws the door open, and jumps in her crib and starts stroking her head saying, "Naomi! You're up! How are you? Did you sleep well?"

When Carter was 10 months old, I remember writing a post about how if I had to describe Carter in one word it would be: happy. That would still be the word I would use today. His smile is one that cannot be beat. He has me and Daron belly laughing at some point during the day and brings a spunkiness to our home that is all too entertaining.

We celebrated his birthday with his first party! We had pizza for the kids and adults and then lots of popcorn and treats for an outdoor movie in the backyard. It was a beautiful night  filled with family and friends and lots of love. We are so grateful for our sweet boy.

Happy 3rd Birthday, Carter. We love you to pieces.
